This northern extension of Öldudalur valley is a small but highly fascinating landform. It is a place where black volcanic ash / black sand meets exotic vegetation. The neon green apple fountain moss (dýjamosi in Icelandic) spreads out by the river Bláfjallakvísl, and the other green and yellow vegetation crawl all the way up to the top of the surrounding mountains and hills of Bláfjöll mountains. For photography, it is a great challenge. It is located at Syðri-Fjallabak and only possible to visit during summer.
