Basalt column has become increasingly popular among tourists and photographers in recent years in Iceland. It is a tremendous and often stunning landform and ideal for photography. There are many places in Iceland where you find basalt columns. One of the most interesting ones is in a small area up in the north called Kárlfshamarsvík. Here, like in many places by the shore, arriving in a calm wind when the tide is low is advantageous.
