Viti, or Hell, is an explosion crater on the northeast shore of Öskjuvatn in the center of the Icelandic Highland. The crater is around 150 meters in diameter and contains a geothermal lake of mineral-rich warm water. The whole surrounding is a harsh environment but highly interesting for photography and often delivers spectacular photos. Like many places in the Highland, it requires a hike for two to three hours but is quite rewarding when it comes to photos and the camera.
